A Baltimore jury has recently awarded $21 million to the family of a boy that was born with cerebral palsy due to medical negligence during the delivery process.
According to the lawsuit, the mother of the boy went into labor prematurely in 2002. The family claims that the baby did not receive enough oxygen during labor and that doctors should have taken notice of this and switched to a Cesarean section.
The lawsuit claims that because the doctors continued with the vaginal birth, the child’s lack of oxygen caused him to develop the permanent disability. They are seeking compensation to pay for the ongoing medical costs that are associated with the boy’s condition.
